Wyld Tales has been online in some form or another probably since 2002 or so. I made it in high school with the grand thought that if I put my stories online, some fabulous publisher would come across them and immediately give me a book deal because my ideas were so awesome. Needless to say, that's not what happened. Instead, it mostly gave me the opportunity to practice my HTML tables back then, and my CSS now. In the past couple of years, the site has, admittedly been a smidge neglected.
This current Wyld Tales revival is my attempt at taking myself and my writing a little more seriously. I am not trying to catch anyone's eye with its fanciness. Wyld Tales is home for my information to the readers of the world when they think they want to know a little bit more about what I've put into a story or setting, and also a place for me to put up snippets of things I do want to share. Of course, I know that readers won't be flocking to the site to find out more about stories and settings until those stories and settings get published. Some day soon, right?
Because I'm maintaining this site myself, at times it will sound formal, and at other times I will start to ramble. Hopefully my tone will come off as somewhat amusing. You'll be doing a lot of reading around here, after all!
That's really it when it comes to the site. Maybe there will be more "About" ramblings later.
A friend on Facebook sent me a wonderful piece of flair that read, "Authors write for a living. Writers write to live." While I do hope to take on the title of author some day, I'm glad to be a writer. I've written stories since I was in elementary school, and nothing much has stopped me since. It's a very fulfilling habit (except for the rejection letters). I get to explore all sorts of interesting information as I build worlds and characters. Every story, every character, teaches me something new.
I'm sure you've already figured out that I am a voracious reader. The "Reads" page doesn't start to cover everything I've read or all the books that are on my bookshelves. Well, maybe I'll eventually get it caught up to my bookshelves, but I don't think I'll ever be able to get it up to including all the books I love.
So, what do I do that doesn't have to do with reading or writing? I love music. I nearly went into a Vocal Performance major, except that life pulled me in a different direction. I sing, and I also play the piano, flute, and guitar. I'm not especially skilled in any of those instruments, but I enjoy playing them anyway. There's something about music that sets a soul free. Well, sets my soul free, anyway.
I also enjoy costuming. I've sewn a few good costumes and cloaks in my time. You might see images of me in costumes around here some time. It's fun to do when I have the time, space, and money.
At the moment, with an adventuresome spirit and a recently-obtained Bachelor's Degree in Education, I have found my way to Japan to work as an Assistant Language Teacher. I work with junior high school students, and they are a lot of fun.
I rarely know what I'm supposed to be rambling about when I'm talking about myself. If you have questions of me, try contacting me through my blog. I'll put the good answers up here. You can also see about getting into my head through my Plurk feed. (I also have a twitter feed, which clones anything I post via Plurk, if you prefer twitter. I just think Plurk's cool like bowties.)
I am a fan of many, many things. The following box contains the codes for a number of things that I am a fan of. It's not a comprehensive list, as there are some things I love that don't have fanlistings, but it's pretty colorful. Also, the codes come in no particular order. I add codes when I can't focus on anything practical.
